Meet David In Person
This AutumnĀ
Alongside the launch of David Mankin Language of Paint, David is getting out from behind the easel to meet readers in person at three events this October and November, a small book tour taking in Salisbury, Bristol and Edinburgh. Spaces are limited at all three, so early booking is recommended. All events are free to attend.
Vanner Gallery, Salisbury
Thursday 8th October, 6pm to 7pm
An informal evening of conversation in the gallery, in the same spirit as David's Portals exhibition film. David will talk through the ideas and process behind the book, with plenty of room for questions, followed by a book signing.
Booking: places are free but limited. Reserve yours by emailing [email protected].
Books: pre-order a copy for David to sign on the night via the Vanner Gallery store. Numbers at the event are limited, so pre-ordering is recommended to avoid disappointment. Already own a copy? Bring it along and David will happily sign it.
RWA Bristol, with Alison Bevan
Thursday 22nd October, 6.30pm to 8.30pm
A relaxed standing evening with a drink in hand. David and Alison Bevan will give an introduction and overview of the book between them rather than a formal talk. Alison is also launching her own new book that evening, The Art of the Newlyn School, so it promises to be a rich night for anyone interested in Cornish art history more broadly.
Booking: this is a free event, but booking is essential due to capacity.
Books: a limited number of copies of both books will be available to purchase at a special launch price on the night. There's no pre-order for this venue, instead let David and Alison know when you book if you'd like a copy reserved for collection. Both will be happy to sign and dedicate copies, including ones you already own.
&Gallery, Edinburgh
Thursday 5th November, 11am to 1pm
The final stop on the tour. A relaxed coffee morning with coffee and croissants, a short talk from David on the book and his approach to painting, then an open chance to chat and ask questions.
Booking: this is a drop in event, come any time between 11am and 1pm, but &Gallery ask that you book in advance to help with numbers.
Books: signed copies will be available to purchase on the day. To guarantee a copy, pre-order in advance via the &Gallery store for collection at the event.
This is the first time David has done anything quite like this, so do come along, he'd love to meet you.
